With the new 30-day free trial offer from iStock, as a new customer, you gain access to download up to 10 high-quality stock images of your choice from iStock’s collection(s) for 30 days, completely free of charge. This includes stock photos and images such as vector illustrations, templates, and other graphic files.

If you reside in a country named in this list, you cannot access a free trial at iStock right now, but stay tuned nonetheless because they might extend the trial to other regions in the near future! The last time iStock extended its free trial deal to include more regions was as recently as October 2023.

This deal gives you the first month for free from an annual subscription with 10 downloads per month, regularly priced at $29/mo. By activating your free trial, you can download any 10 photos you want –within the collection available for your region–, all with a Royalty-Free license for commercial use. You don’t pay a penny for the initial month; you can cancel risk-free within that time without spending any money.

However, if you remain subscribed after the initial 30 days, you will be charged $29 or $70 monthly (the regular price for an Essential or Signature plan with 10 monthly downloads, respectively) for the next 11 months and get 10 new downloads every month.

This is the only volume of a subscription plan that enables a free trial from the many subscription options on their site. But if you wish, once your trial period is up, you can upgrade to other offers in the platform, like a plan with a higher volume of downloads. You may even switch to a monthly subscription, where you pay month-to-month for as long as you wish.

In that case, you can also benefit from our special iStock Promo Code with 15% off all plans and prices!

Don't waste time, and buy your choice of stock videos and stock images at iStock: 20% discount on everything: subscriptions and image packs.

And if you want extra flexibility but comparatively low pricing, then don't miss our new and exclusive offer with 25% off on iStock large credit packs! It applies to packs for 18 credits and upwards.

Get an exclusive 25% discount on your purchase of large credit packs at iStock! This discount applies to packs from 18 credits and up, only.

Step 4.2 > iStock Free Trial: How to Get 10 Free Images at iStock!

What’s Included: The iStock Free Trial comes with 10 Essential and/or Signature image downloads, which means you can search and choose any 10 images and stock photos from these collections and download them for free. You have one month to use these free downloads, but once downloaded and used in a design, they’re yours forever. You will never have to pay for them!

Signature is a collection of exclusive stock photos carefully curated to offer high commercial and artistic value at very affordable prices.

All images downloaded with the trial are royalty-free stock photos that come with the flexible and broad coverage iStock’s standard license, and they’re good to use for marketing, advertising, and creative projects of all kinds.

Bonus: During this free trial, you also gain free access to some of iStock’s added perks, like the iStock Editor, a user-friendly tool to create simple but beautiful graphics in minutes, like social media visuals for example. It’s similar to Canva but native to iStock and available right on the stock photo website.

And Video?: While iStock has photos illustrations and videos available on its website, this offer only provides free stock images; it does not include stock videos. But you can always buy stock footage at iStock at a discounted rate, with credit packs or a premium+video subscription and our special iStock Promo Code.

Now, we’ll answer some of the most commonly raised questions about the new iStock free trial:

Does iStock offer a free trial?

Yes! iStock has a free trial that gives you 10 Essential and/or Signature image downloads for one month free. It's available in certain regions of the world only, though.

What Can I Download with my Free Trial?

The trial gives you access to the Essentials collections, with millions of budget-friendly yet high-resolution images, and/or to the higher-value and exclusive Signature pictures. You can download high quality stock photo illustrations, vectors, graphic elements, and more.

How can I download iStock for free?

Simply activate the free trial, then search for the images you want, select them, and hit the download button. It's that simple.

What Can I Do with the Images I Download During my Trial?

All the photos and images available at iStock come with a royalty-free license, suitable for commercial use. Anything you would do with paid-for stock photos, you can do with these. And it’s much safer, legally, than if you were using images from free stock photo sites like Unsplash or Pexels.

It’s straightforward. All you have to do is go to your account panel on the iStock website and select the option to cancel your subscription in the settings.

What Happens if I Don’t Cancel Within the First Month?

Can I Cancel my Subscription After the First Month?

You can cancel your iStock subscription anytime. Just keep in mind that cancellation fees will apply depending on when you do it.

Does Getty Images have a free trial?

No, at this time, iStock's parent company Getty Images does not offer a free trial.

Why iStock – Quick Agency Overview

Many of you readers know iStock, but in case you landed here because you love a free deal, but don’t know much about this agency, you can learn all about them in our iStock review, or see below a brief with what you need to know:

iStock is a pioneer stock photography company with over 20 years in business that sells online stock imagery. As if that wasn’t enough, they’re backed up by their prestigious parent company, none other than Getty Images.

Many publishers, graphic designers, marketers, bloggers, and creatives from all avenues love iStock because of their high-quality curation and their huge, two-fold catalog that offers two kinds of content: exclusive and high-value budget-friendly. In both cases, the resolution and technical quality of the images are superior and perfectly suitable for professional use.

Plus, the company curates content into popular categories, gives image suggestions from trending searches, and has a search bar with advanced functionality that makes searching and finding aesthetically pleasing images a breezy experience.

Once you license pictures images and stock vectors from iStock, you can edit them as much as you need to make them look unique. You can resize, crop, and add filters, text, and other elements to your image, to make sure the visual created fully represents your brand.

iStock is a natural competitor to the likes of Shutterstock and Adobe Stock, and now it has a free trial to let you experience their service for one month before deciding to pay for a subscription or a credit pack. It’s a chance not to miss!

  1. Hello,
I have used the free trial and downloaded 10 images. Then I canceled the subscription. Can I still use those images or do I hav to delete them and never use them again?
    Thank you,
    Šimon Vágner

    • Hi Šimon, obligatory disclaimer that we are not iStock representatives, our answer is for orientation only. But, it is our understanding that you get to keep and use the images downloaded during your active subscription, as long as you’ve used them in a design at the time. However, we encourage you to check iStock’s FAQ as it’s very complete in addressing such licensing questions, and you may also contact iStock directly to clarify this matter.
      Hope this helps!

  2. Hi, I’d like to cancel my free trial but cannot find any option in my account.
    Please help me.

    • Hi there, we are not iStock representatives. You should be able to cancel the trial on your user account by going to “Subscriptions,” selecting the active plan, and clicking on cancel. However, if this isn’t working for you, you can always contact iStock directly and request your account to be deactivated.
      Hope this helps.

  3. can I reuse the same card with another email id trial?

    • Unfortunately, we don’t know. This offer is only available once per customer.

      • Hi,

if I cancel my free trail within the free trail month, is there a cancelation fee?

        Thanks,
        Wayne

        • According to iStock you won’t be charged anything when you cancel within the free trial. Here is a copy from their FAQ: “If you don’t want to continue the subscription, simply go to your account at any time within the first month of your free trial period and click ‘Cancel trial’. You won’t be charged, and any images you downloaded during your trial will be yours to keep.”
