When a stock photo is bought under a company account, all company employees have rights to use the stock photo for the purpose the stock photo was purchased. For an example, if a company has a design team of 10 people, and the current marketing campaign is using an image for the brochure, posters and gift cards, the entire design team can use the stock photography image for the design materials that are associated with this campaign.
Royalty Free Stock Photography for your Clients
In many cases a graphic design company is hired to create a design for a client. Under stock photography rules, the design team can buy stock photography for their client's design needs as long as the images are used solely for the purpose of this client's design project. It is important to keep a record of stock photography use to remind employees which image is for which client.
Sharing Stock Photos with others
Sharing stock photos outside of the company or using the same stock photo for different design projects is not allowed under the stock photography agreements. Whether it was allowed or not, sharing photos between clients does not create individual design campaigns for your company or your design clients. Unique designs are always the best way to win clients and new customers. Stock photography is cheap, so purchasing fresh images for unique design campaigns is best for everyone.
