The updated AI model, powered by NVIDIA Edify under the Picasso framework, promises lightning-fast image generation speeds, improved 4K quality upscaling, and new AI image editing features, putting Getty Images at the forefront of AI-driven visual content creation with its two tools, Generative AI by iStock and Generative AI by Getty Images.

The New Getty Images & iStock’s AI Image Generators Powered by NVIDIA Edify

According to the company’s communication, NVIDIA Edify's upgrade to its AI image generator includes the capability of producing four images in just six seconds. This represents a doubling of performance compared to its predecessor and makes Getty’s generators two of the fastest in the industry.

Designed to cater to diverse creative needs across industries, the enhanced model boasts advanced 4K generation detail and supports more detailed and complex user prompts up to 250 words. This enables users to efficiently create highly detailed, commercially safe images that align closely with their creative visions.

Furthermore, the latest model allows users to fine-tune the model itself. It translates into Getty Images, now empowering its enterprise customers to customize the AI image generator by training it with their branded images.

Newly Introduced AI Image Editing Features

In addition to speed and quality enhancements, Getty Images has introduced new AI modification capabilities, allowing users to effortlessly customize AI-generated or existing images.

These features, currently available on the iStock AI generator with plans for integration into the Getty Images Generative AI tool soon, enable modifications like inpainting (adding or modifying an image’s elements), outpainting (extending canvas size), or removing backgrounds with a single click.

The ability to modify professionally shot imagery from the agency’s rich catalog or further refine an AI-generated image certainly expands users' creative horizons.

The rollout of these capabilities underscores Getty Images' commitment to empowering creatives with cutting-edge tools while maintaining ethical and legal standards.

By leveraging its vast library of exclusive content, Getty Images ensures that all AI-generated visuals are free of third-party intellectual property and offers indemnification for commercial use.

The latest advancements coincide with Getty Images' broader efforts to foster creative excellence through initiatives like the AI Prompt Challenge, which was created in collaboration with NVIDIA. This demonstrates their dedication to driving innovation in visual storytelling.
