2023 IDMLC: What, When, and Where

The International Digital Media Licensing Conference is an annual event organized by the Digital Media Licensing Association (DMLA), an entity with over 70 years of history dedicated to educating the world on media licensing, creating business and best practice standards, and advocating for copyright protection on behalf of all its members.
Every year, the IDMLC is a staple event that connects creators, distributors, licensors, and legal and technology professionals across the media licensing industry to discuss the most pressing issues and latest developments in the field. Unsurprisingly, this year’s central theme will be generative AI technology. There will also be plenty of time destined for networking.
The conference will occur in The Presidio, San Francisco, between the 23rd and the 24th of October, 2023.
Unlike other editions, this time, the event will have an attendance cap of 200 in-person attendees, so if you want a spot, you should book it ASAP (virtual attendance is also available). They also have achieved special rates for IDMLC attendees at the Hotel Kabuki, a Hyatt property a short distance from the venue.
Registration is open, with a great Early Bird price and special member discounts. You can opt for a full pass or less-encompassing tickets according to your needs.
Generative AI in the Digital Licensing Industry
The conference’s program will be heavily dedicated to generative AI and its impact on the media licensing business.
Across two days, expert speakers will deliver keynotes and join discussion panels to cover essential topics like the legal side of generative AI, how to fix the bias in AI-generated images, and monetization opportunities for AI training datasets.
Other hot topics included are the great photojournalism of the last year, footage and audio content, and marketing and business strategies to increase revenue from media licensing.
We know these initial details, but the organization will continue to disclose speakers and specific keynotes in the coming days and months until the event.
Overall, it’s an exciting program and sounds like a great chance to get educated and up to date with the happenings in the industry and make connections with other important players.
